Internal Plastering

The traditional means of plastering from the 18th Century was laths – the horizontal strips of wood nailed to a vertical upright timber framework – and plaster.

However, if working with walls that are brick, block or stone, the typical finish is plaster.

Three layers are applied – the render, the floating and the setting layer.

In the past the plaster was lime, but this was soon replaced with gypsum or cement-based plasters to speed-up the setting time.

Modern day plasters are premixed gypsum based for the render and finishing plasters.

Which type of plaster will depend on the period and style of your home. We have listed plastering and rendering professionals who will be able to supply you with the relevant service.
