Plasterboards replaced the internal plastering lath and plaster method in the mid 20th Century.
A basic timber framework was erected and then a sheet of plasterboard is cut to fit and nailed in place. The gaps between the boards are taped before the plaster skim is applied to stop the plaster cracking along the joins.
Dry-lining is a faster version of rendered plaster on walls. A plasterboard is fitted to a masonry wall by a series of ‘dabs’ of plaster adhesive. The joints between the sheets of plasterboard are then sealed.
