Coving & Cornice

Cornices are a simple and effective way of finishing the look of a room – they fit where the ceiling and the wall meet and come in a variety of styles and materials.

The difference between the two terms is coving has a uniform profile while cornice includes corner moulding with patterned faces.

There are five main types – plaster, paper covered, polyurethane, expanded polystyrene and timber – which all vary in style, cost and durability.

Despite appearing to be an easy job there are difficulties that require the services of a plastering professional including finishing quality, curved and angled walls and correct adhesives.

A qualified tradesman will be able to inform on the best style and material for your home and price range.
